The Dana Point Harbor area will be busy the first two weekends in March for the 45th Annual Festival of Whales. The dates are March 5th and 6th and again on March 12th and the 13th.

There are all kinds of activities scheduled to celebrate the migration of the gray whale.

Women between the ages 18 and 35 who have experienced abuse, drug addiction problems and who are poor by federal standards may get help through the non-profit Pathways to Independence.

Based in Huntington Beach, Pathways to Independence helps women with weekly interactions with a mentor and weekly couseling with a licenced therapist.

The goal is to heal the women and help them to become contributing members of society.

Around 22-thousand whales will make their way through our County waters to Baja, California to mate and breed.

Many will be pregnant and will give birth while they're in the lagoons of Baja. We have the opportunity to watch these whales as they swim along our coastline.

The Ocean Institute in the Dana Point Harbor may inspire students to further study the marine science, maritime history and enviroment.

The Institute hosts over a hundred thousand students and visitors each year for its hands-on programs on its three ships and in its learning centers.

The Ocean Institute next month will have its largest fundraiser called the Ocean Institute Jazz Festival.

The J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center in San Juan Capistrano serves about 800 riders each year utilizing 20 horses and the assistance of more than 600 community volunteers.

The center serves people with disabilities with a variety of programs that include physical, occupational and speech therapy that can benefit from theraputic horseback riding and activities around the horse.
